As part of the New Croatian Jazz Concert Series program, the Reel Problems quintet will perform at the Kino Urania cinema on Saturday, March 14. The concert starts at 9 p.m., and the audience will have the opportunity to hear one of the most interesting bands on the contemporary Croatian jazz scene.

When the band emerged about ten years ago, it was clear that they were bringing something new and different – a high-level musical expression that stood out on the domestic scene. This was already pointed out back then by a great jazz fan and connoisseur Saša Drach. Over the years, their music became increasingly complex and unusual, but at the same time more attractive to the audience, while the concerts remained unpredictable, spontaneous and extremely entertaining.

The band’s first and so far only album, A Bag of Problems, is actually a recording of a concert held on April 1, 2018, at the Kulturni centar Mesnička (KCM) club in Zagreb. The album was released by Pass the Hat Records in 2019.

The band was founded by Zagreb drummer Kruno Levačić, and alongside him in the band are Ivar Roban Križić on double bass, Luka Žužić on trombone, and Mario Bočić on tenor saxophone. In the newer line-up, they have been joined by Nikola Vuković, who plays trumpet and pocket trumpet.

Admission to the concert is free.

The New Croatian Jazz Concert Series program is realized with the support of the Kultura Nova Foundation, the Croatian Composers’ Association – ZAMP, the City of Osijek and the Osijek-Baranja County.
