Vinkovci Becomes “Rimkovci”: 12th Roman Days from June 13–15
From June 13 to 15, the town of Vinkovci – the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe – will once again revive its glorious Roman heritage during the 12th edition of Roman Days, one of the most attractive historical-cultural events in this part of Europe.
This Year’s Theme: “Death on the Danube”
At today’s press conference, the director of the Vinkovci City Museum, Hrvoje Vulić, presented this year’s theme: “Death on the Danube”. Inspired by the works of Agatha Christie, the story reflects on the death of Roman Emperor Valentinian, who passed away just before a battle on the Danube near modern-day Komarom in Hungary.
The theme will be brought to life in the evening program, thanks to a collaboration between the City Museum of Vinkovci and Osijek National Theatre (HNK Osijek), with the script and direction by Vladimir Andrić and Jasmin Novljaković. A highlight will also be a pub quiz, organized by the museum for the first time.
A Rich Three-Day Program and Roman Fair
Martina Matković, Director of the Vinkovci Tourist Board, announced that the festival begins with activities even before the main dates, creating a week-long prologue. She thanked all local institutions, schools, associations, craftsmen, and especially the City of Vinkovci for their support.
Visitors can look forward to a diverse culinary offering and a lively Roman fair, featuring a contest for the best-decorated exhibition space, adding to the immersive experience.

Mayor Josip Romić proudly described Roman Days as one of the richest historical festivals in Croatia:

Getting to Vinkovci
Located in eastern Slavonia, Vinkovci is just a few hours from Zagreb or Osijek by car or train.
Croatian Railways is offering a 40% discount on return tickets, and instead of crowds, you’ll be greeted by living history at the station.
Tickets must be validated by the organizers at the Info point in Park Lenije.
