With a tradition spanning over 50 years, the Istrian Riviera Tournament holds the title of the oldest international tennis event in Croatia. Unlike major tournaments where competition completely dominates the program, ITF and Tennis Europe tournaments foster a slightly different spirit \u2013 one in which there is also room for friendly socializing and a relaxed atmosphere. <\/p>\n\n
Every year in March, Rovinj, Pore\u010d and Opatija host the Istrian Riviera tennis matches. Since Croatia Futures operates under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation ITF, young players are given a unique opportunity to test themselves on Istrian courts against strong international competition, gain their first professional experience and earn their first points on the ATP rankings. <\/p>\n\n
This tournament is also given special weight by the exceptional list of former participants. It was on the Istrian Riviera that the first steps in their professional careers were taken, among others, by Goran Ivani\u0161evi\u0107, Boris Becker, Thomas Muster, Goran Prpi\u0107, C\u00e9dric Pioline, Magnus Gustafsson, Niklas Kulti, Peter Korda, Bohdan Ulihrach, Dominik Hrbaty and numerous others who later became tennis legends. <\/p>\n\n
